Success Story
Over 18 months, I had the privilege of supporting a young person and his family on an incredible journey—from school refusal to becoming school captain. When we began, he was unaware of his neurodivergence and how it shaped his daily experiences. His family felt overwhelmed, unsure how best to support him.
Through regular home sessions, we built understanding, skills, and confidence. He learned to identify his needs, recognise what worked for him, and request accommodations. Gradually, he developed the ability to judge when to seek support and when to push himself to grow by stepping outside his window of tolerance.
This process showed him that his needs mattered, that he was valued, and that asking for help was okay. His family gained clarity and confidence too, creating a strong foundation for him to thrive.
As he grew more self-aware, he found his voice—and the courage to use it. When his mum called to say he’d been named school captain for Year 6, I was overjoyed. His growth was profound, and I still get teary thinking about it. I believe he’s now set up for life.

“It’s a privilege to witness growth unfold — in the quiet moments, through deep resistance, and especially when it gets hard.”
